Habitat Restoration Contractor
Position Description


The Watershed Project seeks an experienced individual to assist with tidal 
marsh and grassland habitat restoration.  Applicants should have experience 
in planting native plant species, identifying and removing invasive 
species, and monitoring restoration sites.

Background:
Stege Marsh and Coastal Prairie is one of the few remaining tidal marshes 
and grasslands of its kind San Francisco Bay. The Watershed Project, an 
environmental non-profit, is working in partnership with UC Berkeley, 
community volunteers, and students from second grade through the University 
level to restore marsh and upland habitat. Over 10,000 native plants were 
planted in the winter of 2005 – 2006, primarily by volunteers. The restored 
marsh and the surrounding uplands will provide habitat for the endangered 
California clapper rail and a diversity of waterfowl and shorebirds, as 
well as other wildlife species.

Duties include:
·         Assisting current field-staff with planting and weeding of 
restoration sites.
·         Assist nursery staff with propagation of 40+ native plant species.
·         Assist staff with monitoring of project sites.
·         Complete all necessary paperwork for work-performed.

Applicants must be available to work Tuesdays and Thursdays, April -
