A mixed flock of avian insectivores included the first Common Yellowthroat for the Sausal Creek watershed was seen at mid-day. Townsend's, Audubon's and Wilson's warblers, Pacific-slope flycatcher, Warbling vireo, all seen in and around the willows and oaks at the parking spots on El Centro Ave and along the creek. This area managed by the Friends of Sausal Creek for over 15 years has been developing habitat for these species, so it's especially gratifying to witness and photograph their arrival, especially the long-anticipated yellowthroat.
