Hi Friends of Sausal Creek,

Here are a couple of events outside of the watershed coming up next week.

*RainGardens**& Trash Capture Project*

The Friends of Five Creeks (www.fivecreeks.org 
<http://www.fivecreeks.org>) meeting on Monday, October 1, 7-9 p.m. is 
on New Initiatives for Clean Water.  Josh Bradt of San Francisco Estuary 
Partnership (SFEP) will talk about plans for rain gardens to help reduce 
runoff pollution along San Pablo Avenue; Oakland will participate in 
this project in the downtown area between 16th and 17th Streets.Janet 
Cox of SFEP will explain how cities around the bay will install and test 
hundreds of new devices to capture trash this fall--an important test as 
requirements to keep trash out of creeks and the bay stiffen.In Oakland, 
the project will fund a very large trash separator at 73rd Avenue and 
International Blvd. This event takes place in the Edith Stone Room, 
Albany Community Center, 1249 Marin Ave., Albany.

*Sudden Oak Death (SOD) Blitz Results*

Come hear the results of last April's East Bay SOD Blitz on Thursday, 
October 4, 6-7 p.m. at 159 Mulford Hall on the UC Berkeley 
campus./Please note time change from the FOSC newsletter 
announcement./The meeting will include the latest information and 
recommendations for SOD management, as well as treatment options and 
strategies for your area.  You will also learn about the SODMAP, the 
most comprehensive map of SOD in North America showing the spread of the 
Sudden Oak Death pathogen.Details and further information can be be

There are several workshops coming up, including one on Friday, October 
5, at 10 a.m. in Garber Park, 144 Evergreen Lane, Berkeley (near the
