page: www.facebook.com/FriendsOfSausalCreek

Tomorrow night, Monday, Sept. 22, 7 p.m., is the 2014 SOD Blitz Results
Meeting for the East Bay. It is on the UC Berkeley campus in 159

hearing the latest management guidelines particularly as they pertain to
this year's results from samples in the Sausal Creek Watershed. More

Dear collaborators and friends,

You are receiving this message because you have either organized,
participated as a citizen scientist in one of our Sudden Oak Death
blitzes, or you may have attended one of our seminars in the past.

The results of the 2014 SOD Blitz Survey Project (sodblitz.org
<http://www.sodblitz.org>) are finally in, and they will be presented at
four meetings around the Bay Area in late September and October. We
have identified new SOD infestations, and can now recommend areas in
which selective removal of infected bay laurels may be beneficial
(remember SOD is spread by bay laurels and not by oaks). The information
generated by the 2014 SOD Blitz will be available online on September
29^th , but by coming to one of the four results meetings you will have
an opportunity to:

1--Get a preview of the results which will be available a week later to
the public

2--Hear our professional interpretation of the results

3--See in which areas selective bay thinning may be beneficial

4--Learn where new infestations have been found

5--Learn where we suspect future infestations may occur

6--Learn how to use the SODmap mobile app

7--Have your SOD management questions answered

8--Learn about the results of new experiments on SOD control

The four SOD Blitz results meetings will last 1 – 1½ hours; 30 minutes
will be dedicated to results of the Blitzes and the rest of the time
will be devoted to answering your questions. Please join me at these
meetings; we understand it may be a bit of a drive for some of you, but
it will be worth the effort.

The 2014 SOD Blitz results meetings will be held:

We’d also like to take the opportunity to introduce our new website
matteolab.org <http://www.matteolab.org> to see what is new and also to
learn our schedule of other seminars offered in the Fall. Several
additional training seminars called *“Oak Health 101”* are listed in our
“Meetings & Events
<http://nature.berkeley.edu/garbelottowp/?page_id=816>” page; they will
deal with oak health in general, but for a more in depth update on SOD
do attend one of the results meetings listed above. You can attend both
types of meetings (i.e. results and workshops) as the overlap in content
will be minimal.

Hope to see you in person at the meetings!
