Hi Friends of Sausal Creek,

As always, there are many ways you can help in the watershed this
weekend. But the Sudden Oak Death (SOD) Blitz is a once a year citizen
science opportunity, and it isn't too late to sign up to help this
weekend for the East Bay survey. Trainings are held on Saturday morning
(April 9), 10 a.m., in Orinda, or Saturday afternoon, 1:30 p.m., on the
UC Berkeley campus. Visit the FOSC event calendar at
www.sausalcreek.org <http://www.sausalcreek.org> > Programs > Event
Calendar for more details and RSVP information. After the one hour
training, you survey on your own to look for suspect trees, returning
samples to a drop box by Sunday night.

Prior surveys have yielded positive results in the watershed. Event
organizer Dr. Matteo Garbelotto suggests that after several years of
drought it would be good to revisit areas previously infested. You can
travel through the watershed using Google Earth to see past survey
results and learn more about Sudden Oak Death at www.sodblitz.org

I am happy to help you plan routes, or you can survey where you want ...
including your own back yard.

Thanks for your help,
