Hi FOSCers,

Remember that great talk by Damon Tighe at our March meeting?
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1PC1iF3EpLa7cAHlHBa6SJuQqBeH87KHJ3RXsdUF4Lq0

Damon reminds us that mushroom season is kicking off in Dimond Park and
running up Dimond Canyon! This morning he saw lion's mane (/Hericium
erinaceus/) and oyster mushrooms (/Pleurotus ostreatus/) on some of the
downed oaks along the Dimond Canyon Trail. You can put your mushroom
training to work and learn firsthand about the seasonal denizens of the
watershed. See Damon's photos from this morning here:

Damon notes that iNaturalist has about three people that identify
mushrooms on a daily basis in the East Bay, so observations going up
will get help in a relatively quick manner. Also iNaturalist now has an
automatic identity suggestion tool that can give suggestions in the
field, and it's pretty good on the common mushrooms of the Bay Area.

Go fungi!
